An Exclusive Session with Heidi Sulcas

ree

On 11 August 2025, Ms Heidi Sulcas hosted a session for young people who are interested in studying abroad.

With two children who have pursued education overseas, she understands how overwhelming it can be to choose the right international university.

Heidi offers impartial advice, ensuring students' choices are based on what is genuinely best for them.

Her mission is simple: to make this journey as smooth and fulfilling as possible for students and their families.

In her session, Heidi noted that, contrary to popular belief, overseas education is not always better than local education.

Still, there are benefits such as educational diversity, having access to global perspectives & the opportunity to learn about a new country or language.

She also highlighted some often overlooked aspects to consider when looking to study abroad.

While ensuring a university and qualification is accredited, it's also important to consider language barriers, campus sizes, potential loneliness & even weather conditions.

Here are more things you need to consider when looking for a university:

 Graduate employability score/rate

 Internship placements from the university

Rank of the programme or qualification, not the university

 Virtual campus tours

Heidi shared a visual quiz tool, based on the RIASEC model, that helps young people find a major, degree program and career that fits them, and guides them on the majors they need to reach their dreams.

You can find the tool at https://yourfuture.asu.edu/me3

In closing, Heidi shared this career advice: "Don't ever attach yourself to a person, a place, a company, an organisation or a project. Attach yourself to a mission, a calling, a purpose only. That's how you keep your power & your peace. It's worked pretty well for me thus far."

Heidi’s session reminded us that studying abroad is about more than status, it’s about finding the right fit for your goals, values & future.

We are excited and honoured to have hosted Ms Sulcas, and we hope the session was impactful for the learners and students!
